I’m excited to announce that I’ll be exhibiting my work at the Taft Museum of Art. The exhibition is titled Resilience: New Ceramic Works by Terri Kern
My exhibition will be on display in the Sinton Gallery and Taft Historic House and runs from October 12th, 2024 and will run through February 16, 2025.
The 28 pieces I made specifically for this show at the Taft have been ten months in the making. On the bottom of each piece, I inscribed “Taft Museum” with the show dates. I also included seven favorite pieces in the show, created in 2022 and 2023, which have not been widely seen by the public. I also think of them as “new”. Most of them were pulled from a glaze firing, taken to a show the next day, and immediately purchased.

Resilience: New Ceramic Works by Terri Kern

October 12, 2024–February 16, 2025 | Sinton Gallery and Taft Historic House
What does nature teach us about the ability to embrace, resist, or recover from life’s challenges? Local ceramic artist Terri Kern explores the theme of resilience in her latest creations. Inspired by the natural world, her symbolic works of art tell stories of love, loss, triumph, and hardship: birds fly among clouds. snakes coil around tree branches and foxes leap through the air. For the pieces in this exhibition, Kern also sought inspiration from a variety of objects in the Taft Museum of Art’s collection, including Chinese porcelains, Italian maiolica, and European portrait miniatures.
Admission is free for Taft members, guests of members with guest pass, military, and youth (17 and under); $15 for adults; $12 for seniors. Save on tickets when you buy online. Includes admission to special exhibitions and the museum’s collection galleries. Sundays and Mondays are FREE!
