Final Friday, Guest Artist Jeb Brack & Cliftonfest

Today is Final Friday at Pendleton Art Center, and I am excited to share that joining me in my studio will be guest artist Jeb Brack. I  met Jeb, who recently moved to Cincinnati with his family, when he came with his family to several of the Pendleton’s Art in Action programs. We got to talking and I found out he was a self-taught artist who did pencil and pen and ink drawings of buildings and houses. He does commission drawings of homes too, for those of you who might be interested. In addition to his art, Jeb is a professional magician, writer, proofreader, and podcaster.

I’ll be in the studio with Jeb on Friday and on Saturday you’ll be able to find me at Cliftonfest drawing a pastel ArtCarpet on the sidewalk in front of the library on Ludlow. There are going to be some wonderful artists and performers out all weekend celebrating Clifton.

Final Friday, Poetry Shots, Pots and Lemonade

Terri Kern Pots

I have a lot of events coming up! Join me Friday, May 31 for Final Friday at the Pendleton Art Center from 6-10 pm and on Saturday for Art In Action from 11am-3pm.

These are some of my new pieces. I have been getting in touch with my “inner Shakespeare” and have been writing. I started with a simple, three line verse, haiku, and hope to work my way up to longer poems. I am carving the words and some illustrations onto shot glasses. I am calling this series “Poetry Shots”.

They will be for sale at my next local show, “Pots and Lemonade”. It is on Saturday, June 8th from 10am to 4pm. This a great local show with the ceramic work of five clay artists. Louise Jenks, Brenda Tarbell, Pam Korte, Richard Aerni and myself. The show offers functional, sculptural and decorative clay work in a variety of styles and offers work which fits every budget. The address is 1326 Edwards Rd. Cincinnati, Ohio 45208 and its just a couple blocks from Hyde Park Square.

Help save the Cincinnati Arts Ambassador Fellowship program from budget cuts

Please help save the Cincinnati Arts Ambassador Fellowship (CAAF) program from budget cuts! This wonderful program awards seven local artists from any artistic discipline grants of $6000 to do a creative work, which they then share with citizens.  I was fortunate enough to receive one of the grants this past year.
You can help by attending the City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 28 at City Hall (3rd floor) from  2-3:30 pm. I would also encourage you to call and email council members before Tuesday at 1pm and ask them to support saving CAAF and tell them why it’s important to you.

Final Friday, ReArt Opening at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center, Spring Pottery Fair

It is going to be a crazy two weeks. I have all kinds of events coming up to tell you about.

art into action logoThis coming weekend is Final Friday at the Pendleton. My studio will be open from 6-10 and I am continuing to show the sculptural work that I am making with my Cincinnati Art Ambassador Fellowship. On Saturday, April 27 from 11-3 I hope you’ll join me for the second Art In Action. It’s a community outreach art program here at the Pendleton. A select group of artists in the building are offering a variety of FREE classes, demos and lectures. I am teaching a book necklace class, there is a beginning jewelry class, a “make and take” pastel class and more. Check out our Facebook fan page at www.facebook/PendletonAIA. We also have a YouTube channel. To see a couple of fun video shorts about the Art In Action experience, just visit YouTube here.

I’d like to invite you to attend the opening of ReArt on May 3 at the Clifton Cultural Art Center. It is an exhibition showing the original and collaborative works by artists from Cincinnati, Ohio and Barbacoa, Cuba. It is a fascinating show and it’s fun and interesting to see all of the artist interpretations of eachother’s work.

The next day you can see my latest work at the Clay Alliance Spring Fair show at DeSales Corner on Saturday, May 4 from 11am to 5pm. I’ll be posting more about that later!

I want to invite everyone to my next local show. John Beasley, who designs and sculpts beautiful wall tiles and sculptures, invited me to be a guest artist at his Medicine Bluff Studio Open House.  It is a great opportunity for you to see not only my work and John’s work, but the work of four other accomplished artists as well.

The Open House takes place on Saturday, April 20, from 1-4 pm, at Medicine Bluff Studio, 801 Evans St. Cincinnati, Ohio 45204, and is just five minutes from downtown Cincinnati. You will be able to tour Medicine Bluff Studio and learn how they create their handcrafted pieces.
